What can you do?
There are a number of steps that you can do as well to ensure your emails efforts are as successful as possible.
- Clean up Bounces: The interlinkONE software produces reports of the emails that bounce from each effort. Certainly, some bounce types should be left alone – such as an Out of Office Message. However, it’s very important to keep an eye on your hard bounces. If the email address no longer exists, it’s time to remove that person from your list. If you keep your list clean, then you will help avoid “looking” like a spammer to servers.
- Be CAN-SPAM Compliant: A lot of email service providers make it easy for people to flag emails as spam. Thus, you must ensure that you follow the rules of CAN-SPAM compliance.
- Make it easy for people to Opt-Out: This is part of CAN-SPAM, and its very important. You may hate to see subscribers and readers go, but you must make it easy for them to opt out with one click.
- Deliver Relevant Messages to People that Want Them: Sure, you’d love for the whole world to hear about the great product or service that you may offer. However, it takes time to build that list. Ensure that you build your list via opt-in methods, and then send them emails that target their interests.
- Test, Test, Test: It’s very important to ensure that your emails look good in different email clients. If an email shows up in someone’s inbox poorly formatted, they may be more inclined to flag it as spam.
