2012 is officially behind us. While we eagerly look forward to what 2013 has in store, let’s tip our cap to the year that was.

 

Politics

It was a feverish year in politics. A landmark election and more partisanship than ever before highlighted 2012.

Tragedy

The United States was befallen by some of the most unthinkable tragedies in its history in 2012.

Movies

2012 was a big year for familiar heroes. The Avengers, Batman and James Bond all made their presence felt.

The end of the blockbuster series, The Dark Knight Rises was released in 2012, but marred by a horrific shooting at a premiere in Aurora, Colorado.

Daniel Craig reprises his role as James Bond in the 2012 installment of the long-running franchise, Skyfall.

Music

A year of big concerts and bigger benefits, the music industry embraced classic roots in 2012.

Ending a massive benefit show for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, Paul McCartney sits in with Nirvana in a landmark reunion.
