Improve Your Marketing Efforts with Suppression Lists

I am happy to announce the release of a new feature inside of our ilinkONE Version 8 marketing software.

The “Suppression Lists” feature enables users to easily exclude certain groups of contacts from Email Blasts, SMS/Text-Messages, and other marketing efforts that you may be running.

Concept of this Feature

In today’s world, it is very important to value the relationship that you have with each member of your contact lists. This primarily means delivering relevant content to people in the format that they’ve requested. But it also means taking steps so that we don’t annoy them.

With the Suppression Lists feature inside of our software, users can easily make sure that certain contacts are excluded from some promotions.

Any list within ilinkONE Version 8 can be used as a Suppression list.

Simply select the appropriate record from the “Suppression Lists”  drop-down on our Contact Search page, and then all contacts on that list will be excluded from the Contact Results page.

Why Would You Want to Use It

There are a few possible reasons why you might want to use this feature. Here are a few real-life examples:

Example 1: You are inviting people to register for an event, but the registration data is captured in a system outside of ilinkONE Version 8. Thus, before you send out your 2nd email invitation, you’d like to ensure that everyone that has already registered is excluded from the email blast.

Example 2: You are sending an email to your customers about a new product or service. However, the content may only appear to a select group of them — perhaps only those with a Management title may find it relevant. The Suppression List feature could allow you to exclude everyone that does not meet your criteria.

Example 3: You are currently running a drip marketing program to people that have recently downloaded a White Paper. However, you’d like to exclude people that are currently engaging via phone calls with your sales reps. You could upload those names as a Suppression List to exclude them from your drip email efforts.

How It Works

Since any List within ilinkONE Version 8 can be used as a Suppression List, the first steps is one that you may already be used to.

Step 1: Upload the List of Contacts that you wish to exclude

Let’s say you have downloaded your Event Registration list from another system.

The first step is to use our Import Data feature to upload those records as a List:

Step 2: On the Contact Management Search Page, Select the Appropriate Lists

Next, you would head to the Contact Management Search page.

The first thing you would do is select the List that you would like to send the  Email (or SMS/Text, or whatever marketing channel you choose) to.

Then, in the Suppression List dropdown, select the List that you’d like to exclude.

Here is a screenshot of those items in action:

Upon clicking the “Search” button, you will be directed to the Contact Search Results page. The ilinkONE Version 8 software will exclude any contacts that were on the Suppression List.

From there, you can proceed with your desired marketing effort.
