Thoughts from NAQP ’09
I had the privilege of attending the 2009 National Association of Quick Printers (NAQP) conference in Austin, Texas last weekend.
I will say this – there’s something very good in the water down there. People in Austin were full of smiles and very friendly.
The conference was great. Kudos to the NAPL/NAQP team that organized it and developed the content, presentation tracks, and entertainment.
I had a lot of conversations at the conference that were thought-provoking and eye-opening! Here area few things that will stick in my mind for a long time:
- QR Codes are generating quite a bit of excitement! Nearly all of the visitors to the interlinkONE booth asked about them. They watched the demonstration of how we create them, put them on marketing materials, use them with our phones, and then measure their effectiveness.
- Nearly all attendees are looking to spend more time on their own marketing efforts.
- Talked to a few printers that have invested in software that simply creates Personalized URLs, but they are looking for the “next” thing now.
- Software and hardware vendors to printers truly do have a responsibility to help their clients “sell” the technology and solutions that the software and hardware may offer. Implementation and installation is great, but the effort needs to extend beyond that. (PLUG Alert: interlinkONE offers the Marketing Resource Center, among other things.)
- There’s no better way to understand how a piece of technology helps a printer than to listen to them talk about their operations – before and after the sw/hw was installed.
- John Foley, Jr. is a great speaker. Yes, he is my boss! But I witnessed first-hand his presentation on how printers can use social media to build business. He truly does spend the majority of his time looking for ways to help them.
Thank you to all the attendees and staff for throwing a great conference for NAQP ’09.
